Novodvorská Plaza invites you to the EXHIBITION OF PHOTOGRAPHS BY JIŘÍ TONDL, member of the Association of Professional Photographers of the Czech Republic, entitled OLD PEKING – life among palaces, chutungs and skyscrapers, to be held from 7 August to 4 September 2009.
Photographs by Jiří Tondl, member of the Association of Professional Photographers of the Czech Republic, who lives and works in Prague 4, depicting Peking in old days, will be exhibited in the gallery of the shopping mall in August. In the time of holidays you can have a look at an interesting oriental destination. The specific feature of this exhibition is that it does not show places which can be seen from a bus window during an organized tour of the city. It will bring you to recesses, usually hidden to foreign tourists. Who else could be your guide in these places than a man who lived and worked in Peking for a long time and was able to get acquainted with it thoroughly. Mr. Tondl reminds you that many such enchanting places are quickly disappearing under the wheels of trucks and tracks of bulldozers due to fast reconstruction of Peking at present. A walk through narrow winding lanes (chu-tungs) with their unique atmosphere and visits to traditional low Peking houses with yards and gardens, called s´-che-jüan is being transformed into a tour among glass skyscrapers nowadays.
